Member Volunteer Hours are one of the ways TRTA demonstrates to elected officials the value of retired teachers to their communities. Volunteer hours may be counted for any service that is provided without pay to an individual or a group.
This includes all of the following activities and more:
Combine all your volunteer hours together regardless of the type of service performed. Remember to count your hours from portal to portal, from the time you leave home until the time you arrive back home. Count the time you spend preparing to work, such as preparing speeches/presentations, or baking cookies.
Make a habit of recording your activities on a regular basis.
A datebook or electronic calendar is ideal for keeping track.
Track your hours and turn them in at the end of the calendar year.
